Exciting events o' the day

Most of these days I just try to stay sane.  Bar study is, well, it's bar study.  I'm learning a lot and remembering a lot and, boy, when I take this thing for the 3rd time I'm going to be a pro.  So, anyhow, even though I think of lots of things to write on here (and I mean a lot, because I'm in isolation) there's not a particularly lot to tell.  But today had two exciting events that I want to remember.

1. I was going to document this, but I got so excited for it that I just did it.  Forget the picture taking.

I ate my first tomato out of my garden!!!

That would also be the first fruit of my garden, period.  I've had basil, but it doesn't count so much since I could have picked leaves off the baby plants I brought home.  This came from the whole process: baby plant, big plant, blossom, fruit, mature fruit, yummy grape tomato on Ruth's tongue, in Ruth's mouth, in her tummy.  mmmmm

2. Tonight I took Jaya ("my" pup) for her nightly walk (it was a lovely, cool evening) and a couple of blocks from the house she took off (stopped by the lease--thank goodness) after what had to be an animal.  And sure enough, I thought I could see something moving slowly up ahead.  But the animals we normally see are rabbits.  And these rabbits do one of two things: hold completely still or quickly move away.  And this animal was moving slowly.

I live in a nice, quiet suburb where there are plenty of animals.  Tons of rabbits.  Once Chelsea saw a raccoon in the tree in our front yard.  Yes, a raccoon.  I'm still jealous; I want to see it too.  I love seeing raccoons.

Well, this wasn't a raccoon.  As we got a little closer I saw that my suspicious were correct.  It was a skunk.  A whole maybe 10 feet away from us.  Truth be told, I also like seeing skunks.  They can be SO cute.  But I prefer to watch them from the safety of my car or my house.  Not up close and personal.  And certainly not with an eager dog.  Thankfully, oh so thankfully, Jaya is a pretty chill dog.  So, even though she strained to go visit, she didn't make noise and she quickly cooperated when I moved us to the other side of the street.  While Mr. Skunk waddled up the steps of those people's porch (hope they didn't leave their house anytime soon after that).

It's true that number two may be more like a non-event.  But let me tell you, it was enough to set my heart racing for the next few minutes.  Whew.

Now, back to my study.

Oh, and guess what.  A week from tonight I'll be done, done, done.  Can't wait!

Haha! Love the skunk story :) But I'm even more jealous that you have a puppy! We'd love to get one but apartment contracts won't let us...
