You've probably all heard how there are always new things in the Book of Mormon. And this I've found is true; amazing how I can still discover new principles and understand them differently, and, and. But the stories, at least, that's not really going to change, right? I think I mostly have the stories and characters down. After all, I've been studying this book pretty diligently for 30 years.
Which is why I'm sitting here amazed that in one short hour of scripture study I have discovered and fallen in love with a new (to me) Book of Mormon character. Shule. Ether 7:1-11 (so far--I didn't get further (in an hour!!), though his story continues).
Shule, mighty in strength and in judgment. He could discern between right and wrong, between truth and error and therefore judge righteous judgment. And then he did something about it!! He found a hill to molten steel to make swords, to arm an army, to fight for right, to be able to spread righteous judgment throughout the land. And, oh, so much is there.
I won't explain the principles and applications I found; if you're interested, I invite you to study it (and if you'd like to talk about it later, I'd love it). But suffice it to say, I'm in love with the Book of Mormon. And I'm thankful for the Spirit that teaches me what my hill and steel and sword and such are.
