The little things

Yesterday I started thinking about the window in my bathroom and it set me to thinking about some of the reasons I love my apartment. (Rent in Vermont is extremely expensive and my apartment, though a good deal comparatively, is no exception.  So I try to have these thoughts often.)  And as I thought about some these little random things, I got happier and happier and loved my apartment more and more.

Here are some of the little things I really enjoy about my current apartment:

My bathroom has a window.  To the outside.  A small skinny one, high up that I leave open all except the most cold days (which haven't happened in so long I almost forget they exist).  This is awesome!  Every bathroom should have a window!  (one like this--doesn't invade privacy, completely airs out the wettest,, and smelliest, room of the house.)

I have these amazing glass doors in the back. With a fabulous view out them.  But just the doors--I love 'em.  They're not sliding (woohoo!), they are regular open-out doors full of glass panes. Double--two o' them.  So much light.  So happy.

I have a balcony that wraps around my second-story house (as a friend said recently, it reminds her of a tree house).  It's a big, wide balcony.  I love walking around it, hanging over it to enjoy the beautiful days, eating out there, etc.

My house is full of windows.  Windows on three sides (I have neighbors on the fourth side quiet, nice neighbors), lots of windows.  They are oh, so very, very nice.  Oh, and every single one has a screen.  And is easy to open.  Yet closes securely.

And, of course, I still love my kitchen with so many cupboards and drawers (all mine!).

I love the big space.

I have a couch now.  It's super comfy.  I have the BEST Sunday naps on it.  I also have a great bed (new to me).  Craigslist is awesome (both of these were free, good quality items).

My house looks like my home(At least in most areas.)  And that makes me really happy.

I have a fantastic screen door--that latches--on the front.  And a screen on the back.  Oh, yes, I have a front and a back door.  In my one-bedroom apartment.  No, it's not super important or a big deal.  But I just feel happy thinking about it.  Like I said at the beginning--it's these little things.

I love the light, the air flow, the trees around that I'm up "in."  I love my flowers growing in the front, my veggies growing in the back.  I love the space.  And I love the Spirit that is here.

I'm so grateful to have a home where I feel comfortable and happy.

And, I'm really happy my bathroom has a window.

Yes, I should! It's dark now, but I'll try to remember to take pictures sometime this week. (Though the image in your head might be more glorious...) :)
