Happy Patriots' Day

Today I watched part of the 114th Boston Marathon.

It was inspiring.

I didn't see any of the speedy fast people at the beginning. I started watching about 3.5 hours after the second wave started, so saw a lot of "normal" runners. And then I watched until about 6.5 hours and watched really amazing people at the end finishing up.

There are lots of things I could say about it all, but I think my second sentence sums it up. So many moments that make me cry.

It was also fun to be part of the crowd. All the intensity of good sports, none of the animosity of competitive sports.

And finally, during and after the race I saw lots of parts of Boston that I hadn't previously seen. Fun times.

p.s. Today is Patriots' Day, commemorating the start of the Revolutionary War and a holiday here.

Tia, I hadn't looked at your blog yet, but I definitely thought about you yesterday during the race.
And to Sara and Tia--I would love to see you both here. Come run it while I still live here! And to my crazy siblings and everyone else who likes doing painful things--come, come.
