Answered prayers

I have a dozen things to blog about, but I just want to tell one story. My siblings and I drove "home" to Lovell, Wyoming for Christmas (about an 8 hour drive normally). There were going to be six of us going up so we borrowed my cousin's car, which has 6 seats. We waited out the Dec. 22 snowing madness, then headed up on Tuesday. The weather was quite nice, the roads looking good all the way up. Some of us had prayed very specifically for several weeks that the roads would be clear and all would be well, and we definitely felt that the prayers were answered.
About 20 minutes before we got to my parent's house, the car's heater quit blowing warm air. hmm. Very odd. But the car continued to run fine and we got home. The next day my father checked a few things, then took it out driving. Within a short time the car had died, dead. It ended up being a problem in the engine and took lots of time, money and energy to fix it.
Anywhere along the 500 miles up to Wyoming that car could died. But it didn't. To quote President Henderson (my mission president), "Coincidence? Or divine intervention?" Is there really any question?
So, we spent a few extra days in Wyoming (took awhile to get a mechanic open long enough, what with holidays and weekends in a small town), and this was my fourth (yes, fourth) Christmas/New Year season in a row to have a dead car, but I am very, very, very thankful that the Lord watched over us and that He answers prayers. And I have a new conviction that the more specific we are with our righteous requests, the more specifically he blesses us.

Wow! I can hardly believe this is yet ANOTHER story of a car dying. I think I remember almost all of them and have been personally apart of one story. Crazy! The Lord does answer prayers. Tell your family to buy HONDAs :) Even old Hondas work really well!

Yeh, that's what we all thought. Then, Rachel's Honda just died this weekend. :( My mother says it's just a Checketts curse

I'm glad you guys got there okay. Ruth, you teach me so many things, and you have very good timing with your lessons. Any word on the clerkship or teaching stuff?
