10. Go on at least one hike a month

This has been one of my favorites off my list of goals. I've had fun planning, doing and writing/looking at pictures after. I've seen lots of neat places and spent some good time with people. I've documented September November. Too bad I didn't ever get up the birthday hike because we made a great story with it (that included 6 slithery snakes, some gorgeous catepillars and butterflies, etc.)

This week I did my December hike and explored an area closer to town. The trail was built as a mountain bike trail but pedestrians are welcome (after walking it, you couldn't pay me to ride a bike over all those rocks, curves, etc.--I did go on the most difficult (for bikes) trail). Anyway, it was fun. It starts at the same place as an awesome city trail where I run (alongside a beautiful little river, etc.) but it was fun to be in the woods, climbing over hills and down in hollers. The winter is fully set in and the nuts and berries are much less evident. But I did see some and a few species of wildlife. My favorite was the chipmunk that was very close to me. He help still and tried to blend in while got a great picture. It was a sunny, blue sky (though still cold) day. Mostly it was just wonderful to be outside.

Yep, this was definitely one of my favorite goals. I hope I'll keep it up! Wherever I may end up, I still want to do it.
