On Saturday morning I made a countdown chain for my friend Nelly. I love count down chains--where you tear off a link each day until whatever special event you're counting to (typically Christmas, but I use them for all sorts of great things).
Nelly is getting married in 7 weeks and a couple of weeks ago I'd told her she ought to do a chain (especially since she has a 7-year old daughter who would love it), but since she didn't know what that was, I decided to do one for her.
It was so fun and colorful, with every 7th link purple for Saturdays, including that day and the day of the wedding. (I'd show you a picture, but my computer is kaput, so no way to get pictures from my camera to here.) 50 links in all, which ended up being really long.
Well, when I was making it, it seemed long. And thinking about about Nelly and her fiance waiting for the wedding, it seemed long.
And then suddenly, sitting on my bedroom floor looking at that chain, I remembered that I have to have 3 bridesmaids dresses made before that wedding.
Suddenly that chain seemed really, really short.
