I still get comments about the water story, so I thought I should post a couple more random tidbits from that situation.
First, during the paranoia (because I really felt like it was that), I said to many people--the water is probably fine. It's coming out of a reservoir. They just have to protect themselves, so they have to warn us. I understand that, but I really, really doubt there's a problem with the water. I myself did not drink much tap water, but I still brushed my teeth and whatever. Sure enough, the day after the water came back on, a small article appeared in the paper informing that the water had been safe all along. The city was running tests for about 36 hours--right during the middle of the "crisis" and their reports all came back safe. Too bad the pipes got fixed about the same time the results came out.
Other funny timing thing. On the very Saturday that the pipes broke and we started getting "unsafe" water, there was an article about one of the small towns in Greater Boston that had just, I mean the day before just, after many months of pressure and campaigning, had just passed a town ordinance banning bottled water. Something tells me the ban might be repealed. (Though you can boil water, you do not need to buy bottled, but many people missed that point.)
Nonetheless, I think after all maybe I did get a parasite because none of my pants fit anymore.

Ruth,
You need to talk with Aunt Donna about her experience with tutoring students from China. Your experience sound so familiar to hers.
I love your blogs they always make me smile. Even if I don't always comment. I'm proud of you and love you.
