Why we all need a sister

This morning I went to translate for the Stake Primary training.  While I was waiting for my break-out session to start, a small children's choir came in and sang.  And my favorite event of the day occurred.

In the group was a little boy (probably about 4 or 5) and his sister (3ish).  (I know they were siblings, because they got to the chapel when I did.)  Picture little Roland and Ruth.

Anyway, so the group goes up to sing and right as the prelude finishes and the song begins, the little boy sinks down onto his knees, so you can't see him anymore.  (I don't know if he was singing or not.)  And his sister, who is much smaller than he is, grabs him by his hair and tries to pull him back up.

Only problem is, he has a buzz cut and so his little hairs aren't long enough to get a good grip.  So, then she grabs the front of his sweater and pulls him up that way.  And it works! She gets him standing again and he finishes out the song.

I was laughing so hard, but also feeling deep empathy with that sister.

Dear little sister, you may not go about helping in the most appropriate ways, but oh, I know how badly you want to make sure that your brother does what he's supposed to.  And we'll keep helping, any way we can, won't we?

Side note: I wore sandals to said event.  (First time in way too many months.)
Heaven.  Pure heaven.

That's awesome! I hope that my boys will have a sister someday, if not, I hope they have daughters. =) I know that I always wished for sisters, but I have two wonderful brothers and great sister-in-laws and friends that I have adopted as my sisters. So life is wonderful! ALso, I love reading your blog because it makes me smile! You're wonderful, Ruth. By the way, Whitney's sister-in-law, Aubrey and her husband Kevin are in our ward. Small world!

I hadn't read your blog for ages, but it was fun to read some of them. I agree it is fun being a sister as well as having a sister and sister-in-laws. They are all awesome, as well as the nieces. Have a great time in Boston.
