First, in my study for the bar exam I needed to learn about Secured Transactions. What's that mean? I didn't know either. Never took the class. No idea. I was scared about it. But with a lot of prayer I went ahead and I learned it. In about 5 hours I learned enough that I could answer the practice essay questions. And I just know what it means and how to use it. In today's study it came up a couple of (minor) times and I knew what that meant! Hoorah! It was pretty exciting for me. And I felt richly rewarded in my first day of really, really trying to do this study with the Lord's help.
After that I came home and made a birthday cake for my co-worker Margie. But this wasn't just any cake, oh no. Margie wanted a chocolate cake with strawberries. Strawberries I know. Chocolate cake I do not. I attempted chocolate cake one other time--Margie's birthday 3 years ago. That time I found a random recipe on the internet and while it may have tasted good (don't know) it didn't look like the chocolate cakes I've seen before. But, I tried the Internet again and this time I was successful!!. It was fun to cook it and make the chocolate frosting. And it was even more fun to feel like I was learning something new. And, again, I don't know how it tasted, but it looked awesome and got rave reviews at the office.
Only downer to the story, even after braving a flood to come back and get my camera (really, literally) I still forgot to take pictures of it. I remembered post party, so here's what's left:
Clarissa and Johnny thought the frosting was delicious!
(this is actually pre-beaters for Johnny, but he's so adorable anyway, I had to include it. He looked like Clari a few minutes later.)
And to top off the day Lila and I went walking in laps around the neighborhood.
What a great day!
