Ode to Nature

Well, not an ode. Just a tribute. I love the natural wonders of our world. The most amazing thing I've seen lately has been the fireflies. I love them best in the country, where they are like blinking stars against the trees. So beautiful!! But they're also delightful even in the neighborhoods. I went running last night and they were fine, fine company in the gathering dusk. I just love them!!
The other great event of nature this week was an almost tornado. I really wanted it to be one. My co-workers thought I was crazy and I suppose so, since we were in a very old, wooden building with nothing tornado proof about it. And deep down I was grateful that it didn't hit down by us. But the black sky, sirens and 50-60 MPH winds that made the rain fall horizontally were pretty awesome. [Not so awesome was the fact that Ruth had left her car windows open that day (I had produce in the car and didn't want it to bake as closed cars can in the summer.) I was so excited about the storm that I forgot. oops. Oh, I should mention that said car was full of all my belongings since I was moving that day. I guess that's another good reason to be grateful the tornado didn't come and carry it away.]
And last, nature in Arkansas has equaled some unnaturally cool weather this summer. I came prepared for Arkansas heat and it keeps raining and I keep being cold (because I have no warm clothes). I don't like being cold but I sure do appreciate the cool weather!
I do love nature!
